Today, there is an unending race on records of height. In fact, the will to always want to go higher is very symbolic: to go closer to the sky , divin or mythological place .Since always the highest constructions used to show the civilisation or empire’s power , today , the skyscrapers show the financial companies’ one .But , from a certain limit on , Physics knowledge become essential to continue the race.

Engineers studied lots of physical problems during this race, then, they knew how to learn the consequences and they used the technical evolution on other fields. So, crossing these different resources they could give solutions always innovating: nowadays, a skyscraper is a high technological construction which we can call “super structure” because nothing is outthought.

Thanks to these innovations, engineers always push away limits of gigantism: it seems today that the symbolic high of one kilometre will be reached on the next decade, or on close years .With this evolution, morals also change. In the XIIIth century, foreigners were filled with wonder at the towers of Notre Dame of Paris; at the end of the XIXth century, nobody believed at the Gustave Eiffel’s amazing project which was to build a tower of 300 meters high: today we are going to inaugurate a skyscraper of 800 meters high at Dubaï and it will probably be quickly deposed by an other skyscraper. Always inventing new fields , men look able to dominate the “nature power” and nothing looks able to prevent men from building new “monsters made in glass and steel” always higher. At Dubaï, the skyscraper Burj Al-Arab is constructed on the sea! At Taipei , a very seismically country, the highest skyscraper of the world resists at the rude weather where typhoons are frequents. Until where this records’ race will go and who will be able to stop it?
