Formerly based in New York City, the World Trade Center was a complex of seven buildings of which two were emblematic of the complex. The two buildings 1WTC and 2WTC, also called the Twin Towers. Each one of them was about 420 meters with 11O floors. The construction was finished 1977 after more than six years of works. Then it was considered as the highest skyscraper of the world for some time. The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were the highest place in Manhattan and so we could see it from very far. On the top of the North Tower (1 WTC) there is a restaurant named « Windows on the World » which has an extraordinary sight. From there we have a spectacular view of the bay, the fives districts of New York and its surroundings, and when the sky is clear we can see the curve of our planet. At first the complex was destined to offices work but not only since it had once accommodated the biggest mall of Manhattan with about 70 shops and also a big space for the meeting rooms, seminary and expositions which made it a multifunctional center.

Because it was internationally famous and because of its symbolic weigh, the World Trade Center was the cable of many attacks like the one in 1993 which made 6 deaths or the one which took place on November, 11^th of 2001 which also caused the destruction of the complex.

Five years later during the commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the attacks of the 11^th of November of the year 2001, the United States revealed the project of construction of the future World Trade Center. The Freedom Tower which will be built on the ruins of the late World Trade Center should be over in 2012 and will measure about 541 meters.
